Vietnam’s wood and wood products industry

Vietnam’s wood and wood products industry is a key export sector, supplying furniture and processed timber to major markets including the United States, European Union, Japan and South Korea.

The industry has benefited from Vietnam’s extensive network of free trade agreements, competitive labour costs and a growing shift of global manufacturing into Southeast Asia.

Domestic production relies on a mix of plantation timber and imported raw materials, with increasing emphasis on legality, traceability and sustainable sourcing standards.

Growth prospects remain strong, though the sector faces challenges from demand fluctuations in export markets, stricter environmental regulations and rising input and logistics costs.
