Aviation: VietJet faces US$181.5 million payout as UK court denies delay request
A London High Court has ordered VietJet Aviation JSC to pay US$181.5 million to aircraft lessor FW Aviation, rejecting the airline’s request to delay payments and ruling it has the means to comply, Bloomberg has reported. The decision follows a prolonged legal battle stemming from VietJet’s default on lease payments for four Airbus aircraft during the pandemic.
Aviation: VietJet Vietnam stock market disclosure skims over latest court ruling, puts focus on appeal
In a release to the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, Vietnamese budget airline, VietJet, has acknowledged a ruling last week in the UK courts. The banks had previously held lease agreements with the airline with respect to several aircraft, lease agreements Vietjet defaulted on. The banks had pursued, and been awarded the injunctions, on the grounds that the agreements with Vietjet specifically assigned the UK courts jurisdiction over any dispute between the parties.

This adds to a growing list of legal action against the airline in recent years. This includes filings with the UK courts from SAF Leasing and Avolon Aerospace in May this year, a judgement in another lawsuit brought by Djinn Issuer mostly in favour of the claimant in October of 2023, and another brought by AWAS 6696 Ireland limited in May of 2023…

UK court finds against Vietnam’s Vietjet in leasing dispute from 2021
A court in the UK has found that FitzWalter Aviation Holdings, which had a leasing agreement with Vietnam’s Vietjet, had the right to cancel said lease back in 2021. Vietjet had argued that the lease termination was illegal and had refused to allow four aircraft to be repossessed. The judgement
