Vietnam-Thailand trade relations
Vietnam and Thailand established diplomatic relations in 1976, with economic ties strengthening significantly from the 1990s alongside Vietnam’s integration into regional and global markets.
Both countries are members of ASEAN and participate in multiple regional trade frameworks, including the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which have helped reduce tariffs and facilitate cross-border trade.
Bilateral trade has expanded steadily, supported by improving logistics connectivity, supply chain integration, and complementary industrial structures across sectors such as electronics, agriculture, and automotive.
Thailand is also a major investor in Vietnam, with Thai conglomerates active in retail, energy, construction materials, and consumer goods, reinforcing deeper economic linkages between the two economies.
