We welcome thoughtful submissions that offer opinion, commentary, or analysis on the themes we cover. the-shiv focuses on Vietnam’s economic development, trade, investment, policy, infrastructure, and industry trends—always with a sharp, data-driven edge and a global lens.

We do not offer payment for guest contributions, but your work will be published before a high-level audience of investors, researchers, analysts, and decision-makers.

Submission Guidelines

  • Length: Max 800 words
  • Format: Plain text or Google Docs; no PDFs
  • Style: Clear, concise, and professional. Avoid jargon. Use Australian English.
  • Originality: Submissions must be original and unpublished elsewhere
  • Tone: Insightful, grounded, and specific—no generic hot takes
  • Sourcing: Cite data, laws, and reports where relevant (we hyperlink to credible sources)

What We’re Looking For

We’re especially interested in:

  • Sharp commentary on current events or policy shifts
  • Analytical takes on trends in Vietnam’s economy, sectors, or regulatory landscape
  • Comparative perspectives (Vietnam vs another country or region)
  • Personal insights from on-the-ground experience or professional work in the region

We do not publish:

  • Promotional or PR-style content
  • AI-generated fluff
  • Unsubstantiated claims
  • Long explainers without a point of view

Structure Suggestions

A strong submission typically follows this arc:

  1. Headline: Specific and engaging
  2. Hook (1–2 sentences): Why this matters now
  3. Core argument (2–3 paragraphs): Make a case, interpret data, or frame a challenge
  4. Examples or comparisons: Use Vietnam or international references to support your point
  5. Conclusion: A forward-looking insight or call to attention/action
