Vietnam’s imports from Canada rise 13 percent in February
Vietnam imported US$77.80 million worth of goods from Canada in February 2025, up 13.17 percent from US$68.75 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought total imports from Canada for the first two months of the year to US$146.57 million.
Vietnam’s exports to Indonesia climb 18 percent in February

Vietnam exported US$442.63 million worth of goods to the Philippines in February 2025, an increase of 8.86 percent from US$406.61 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought total exports to the Philippines in the first two months of the year to US$849.44 million.
Vietnam’s imports from New Zealand rise 4 percent in February
Vietnam imported US$63.73 million worth of goods from New Zealand in February 2025, a modest increase of 4.02 percent compared to US$61.27 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought year-to-date imports from New Zealand to US$124.95 million.

This brought the total value of exports to the US in the first two months of 2025 to US$19.56 billion.
Vietnam’s imports from Switzerland surge 43 percent in February
Vietnam imported US$65.71 million worth of goods from Switzerland in February 2025, marking a sharp increase of 42.94 percent from US$45.98 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Trump’s 46% tariff on Vietnam imports shocks businesses, rattles markets
President Donald Trump has announced a sweeping 46 percent import tariff on goods from Vietnam, citing trade imbalances and currency manipulation. Vietnam’s current average MFN tariff rate is 9.4 percent, significantly higher than the U.S. average of 3.3 percent, according to a White House press release. The U.S. also criticised Vietnam for restricting imports of remanufactured goods.
Vietnam’s imports from the Philippines up 6 percent in February
Vietnam imported US$232.45 million worth of goods from the Philippines in February 2025, a 6.01 percent increase from US$219.30 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought total imports from the Philippines over the first two months of the year to US$451.66 million.
Vietnam’s imports from the UK edge down in February
Vietnam imported US$65.73 million worth of goods from the United Kingdom in February 2025, slightly down by 1.15 percent from January’s US$66.50 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought year-to-date imports from the UK to US$132.26 million.
Vietnam’s imports from Indonesia soar 46 percent in February
Vietnam imported US$1.01 billion worth of goods from Indonesia in February 2025, a sharp increase of 46.36 percent compared to US$690.99 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought total imports from Indonesia for the first two months of the year to US$1.70 billion.

Vietnam imported US$1.44 billion worth of goods from the United States in February 2024, up 24.23 percent from January’s total of US$1.16 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought total imports from the US in the first two months of the year to US$2.59 billion.
Vietnam considers cuts to import tariffs on range of ag. goods, resources
The Ministry of Finance is preparing a draft decree for the government that, if approved, will adjust Vietnam’s Most Favoured Nation (MFN) import tax rates down. This is at the request of the Prime Minister in response to “complex and unpredictable developments of the world’s geopolitical and economic situation” (READ: US tariff policy), Zing News is reporting.
Priority Customs Treatment in Vietnam for Foreign Firms
Earlier this month, the Dong Nai Department of Customs issued a decision suspending priority customs treatment for Panasonic. The decision does not specify exactly what the well known Japanese brand failed to do, only citing Article 45 of the Customs Law. The company has been suspended for 60 days from accessing priority customs treatment.
Vietnam’s trade turnover reaches US$127.07 billion in first two months of 2025
Vietnam’s total import and export turnover in February 2025 was US$63.77 billion, marking a 0.7 percent increase from the previous month and a 32.6 percent rise compared to February 2024. For the first two months of 2025, total trade turnover reached US$127.07 billion, up 12.0 percent year-on-year. Exports rose by 8.4 percent, while imports saw a stronger increase of 15.9 percent. The country recorded a trade surplus of US$1.47 billion.
Complaint lodged with EU trade body RE: Vietnam EVFTA human rights compliance
The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) has lodged a complaint with the European Commission’s trade department arguing that an “…ongoing crackdown on human rights defenders working on sustainable development violates the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement”.
Vietnam’s exports to Thailand reach US$643.52 million in November 2024
Year-to-date, Vietnam’s exports to Thailand amounted to US$7.15 billion. Machinery, computers, and electronics dominate the export portfolio, with these categories leading the trade figures.

Year-to-date exports to Hong Kong reached US$11.26 billion. Computers, electrical products, spare parts, and components dominated, accounting for US$611.18 million in November with a minimal decline of 0.39 percent.
Vietnam’s imports from Indonesia decline slightly in November
Year-to-date imports from Indonesia totalled US$9.46 billion. Key imported products included coal, which saw a 4.96 percent increase month-on-month to US$216.71 million, and animal, vegetable fats and oils, which declined by 35.49 percent to US$64.43 million.
