Vietnam’s imports of essential oils and cosmetics fall 29.82 percent in January
Vietnam’s imports of essential oils, resinoids, perfumery, cosmetic, and toilet preparations fell by 29.82 percent month-on-month in January to US$93.32 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decline from US$132.97 million recorded in December.
Vietnam’s cosmetics and toiletries production posts steady annual growth
Year-on-year, the sector declined by 7.4 percent in December compared to December 2023. However, for the full year of 2024, cumulative growth reached 8.3 percent compared to 2023, demonstrating a solid annual performance despite the December dip.
Vietnam’s imports of essential oils, cosmetics, and toiletries rise by 3.28 percent in December
Singapore remained the largest supplier, contributing US$33.81 million, though this marked a slight decline of 2.28 percent compared to November. South Korea recorded the highest growth, with imports rising by 28.95 percent to US$22.42 million. France and Italy also posted significant increases, with imports growing by 25.12 percent and 24.95 percent, respectively.
Vietnam’s cosmetics manufacturing sees mixed performance to November
Year-on-year, however, the sector recorded a decline of 6.06 percent in November 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Despite this, the sector achieved a cumulative growth of 10.31 percent over the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, showcasing its long-term resilience.
Vietnam’s cosmetics imports remain steady in October
China was the leading supplier, contributing US$14.81 million in October, an increase of 12.56 percent month-on-month. Singapore followed with US$32.59 million, though it saw a decline of 3.16 percent. South Korea, another major supplier, recorded an increase of 6.53 percent, reaching US$14.87 million.
Vietnam’s cosmetics and personal care sector shows strong industrial growth
Year-on-year, the index saw a 5.2 percent growth in October 2024 compared to October 2023, showcasing steady progress in the industry. Over the first ten months of the year, production surged by 12.9 percent compared to the same period in 2023, marking strong year-to-date growth.

That said, from January to September 2024, the sector posted a 15.1 percent growth, highlighting sustained demand for these products throughout the year. The strong year-to-date performance reflects the growing importance of Vietnam’s cosmetics and personal care market, driven by increasing consumer spending and rising interest in beauty and hygiene products across the country.
