Vietnam’s imports of essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations reached US$131.76 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents an increase of 5.15 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) import value to US$610.43 million.
Singapore remains the top supplier with steady growth:
Singapore continued to be the primary source for these imports, with a May value of US$35.36 million. This signifies a steady increase of 5.10 percent from April and accounts for a significant 26.23 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
South Korea shows strong growth, China sees a decline:
South Korea’s imports rose by 9.27 percent to US$19.39 million in May, solidifying its position as a key supplier. Conversely, imports from China decreased by 8.64 percent to US$16.77 million in May. These countries respectively contributed 14.52 percent and 15.12 percent to the YTD total.
Thailand and Indonesia record notable increases:
Imports from Thailand surged by 28.16 percent to US$15.18 million in May. Indonesia also experienced a strong increase of 18.39 percent, with imports valued at US$9.34 million.
Significant month-on-month changes across other markets:
Several countries exhibited significant month-on-month growth in May:
- Italy imports grew by 33.64 percent.
- Japan recorded a rise of 20.48 percent.
- Poland increased by 15.56 percent.
- Ireland emerged as a new supplier with imports in May after none in April.
Conversely, some markets faced substantial declines:
- Switzerland saw a drop of 41.07 percent.
- UK imports decreased by 31.29 percent.
- France experienced a decline of 27.37 percent.
- Malaysia fell by 23.16 percent.
- Philippines saw no imports in May after having imports in April.
The overall increase in May’s imports of essential oils, perfumery, cosmetic, or toilet preparations suggests continued demand, with Singapore leading the growth and a dynamic landscape among other suppliers.
