ToggleVietnam imported essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations to the tune of US$141 million in October, up from US$137 million in September, a change of 3.10 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$1,270 million worth of cosmetics by the end of October.
Singapore accounted for US$41 million worth of Vietnam’s cosmetics imports in October. This was up from US$31 million in cosmetics imports in September, a change of 30.67 percent. Year to date, Singapore has shipped US$322 million worth of cosmetics to Vietnam.
After Singapore was South Korea making up US$21 million worth of Vietnam’s cosmetics imports in October. This was down from US$23 million in cosmetics imports in September, a change of 11.75 percent. Year to date, South Korea has shipped US$200 million worth of cosmetics to Vietnam.
Next was China contributing US$19 million worth of Vietnam’s cosmetics imports in October. This was up from US$17 million in cosmetics imports in September, a change of 11.31 percent. Year to date, China has shipped US$169 million worth of cosmetics to Vietnam.
Following China was Thailand representing US$15 million worth of Vietnam’s cosmetics imports in October. This was down from US$18 million in cosmetics imports in September, a change of 14.66 percent. Year to date, Thailand has shipped US$142 million worth of cosmetics to Vietnam.
Rounding out the top five was Indonesia constituting US$10 million worth of Vietnam’s cosmetics imports in October. This was down from US$10 million in cosmetics imports in September, a change of 0.93 percent. Year to date, Indonesia has shipped US$86 million worth of cosmetics to Vietnam.

Counterfeit cosmetics
Nguoi Lao Dong reported in November that Vietnamese authorities had uncovered multiple counterfeit cosmetics and beauty-product operations involving influencers in the weeks leading up to the year-end shopping season.
It noted Ho Chi Minh City police detained one influencer for allegedly producing and selling fake weight-loss and beauty supplements, with Dong Nai police, in an unrelated case, seizing more than 1,600 suspected fake Hanayuki sunscreen products along with packaging and raw materials.
