Vietnam imported US$127.07 million of essential oils, resinoids, perfumery, cosmetic and toilet preparations in August, down 3.82 percent from US$132.11 million in July, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports reached US$988.76 million.
Singapore was the largest supplier with US$29.77 million, followed by South Korea at US$22.51 million and China at US$17.29 million.
Thailand also played a significant role, exporting US$16.20 million.
The United States contributed US$10.58 million, up 10.72 percent month-on-month.
Other notable suppliers included Indonesia, France, Japan, and Italy, though most posted declines compared to July.
Smaller volumes came from markets such as the UK, Germany, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Switzerland.
The Vietnamese cosmetics market has evolved from traditional practices to a dynamic modern industry.
Today, the market is one of the fastest-growing in the region, with a strong preference for international brands, which account for a significant portion of the market.
South Korean brands, in particular, hold a dominant position due to the immense popularity of K-beauty trends.
