Vietnam’s imports of essential oils and cosmetics fall 29.82 percent in January

Vietnam’s imports of essential oils, resinoids, perfumery, cosmetic, and toilet preparations fell by 29.82 percent month-on-month in January to US$93.32 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decline from US$132.97 million recorded in December.

Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total imports of these products stood at US$93.32 million. Singapore remained the largest supplier, contributing US$24.16 million, or 25.89 percent of the total. China followed with US$15.52 million, representing 16.63 percent, while South Korea supplied US$15.28 million.

Among major suppliers, the UK recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing 64.02 percent, followed by Taiwan at 34.84 percent. In contrast, Switzerland saw the steepest decline, with imports falling 86.36 percent. Indonesia and Italy also posted significant drops of 45.53 percent and 45.32 percent, respectively.

The industry remains heavily dependent on Singapore, China, and South Korea, which together accounted for more than half of Vietnam’s essential oils and cosmetics imports. While the UK and Taiwan showed strong growth, overall imports from most key suppliers declined significantly.
