ToggleVietnam imported plastic products to the tune of US$1,067 million in December, up from US$960 million in November, a change of 11.09 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$10,870 million worth of plastic products by the end of December.
China accounted for US$678 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in December. This was up from US$613 million in plastic products imports in November, a change of 10.66 percent. Year to date, China has shipped US$6,849 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.
After China was South Korea making up US$147 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in December. This was up from US$134 million in plastic products imports in November, a change of 9.82 percent. Year to date, South Korea has shipped US$1,525 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.
Next was Japan contributing US$89 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in December. This was up from US$79 million in plastic products imports in November, a change of 12.15 percent. Year to date, Japan has shipped US$939 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.
Following Japan was Taiwan representing US$33 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in December. This was up from US$27 million in plastic products imports in November, a change of 22.38 percent. Year to date, Taiwan has shipped US$324 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.
Rounding out the top five was Thailand constituting US$27 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in December. This was up from US$22 million in plastic products imports in November, a change of 22.71 percent. Year to date, Thailand has shipped US$265 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.

Vietnam exported plastic products to the tune of US$702 million in December, up from US$619 million in November, a change of 13.41 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year to date, Vietnam had exported US$7,473 million worth of plastic products by the end of December.
Vietnam’s plastic products industry
Vietnam’s plastics industry is a key supplier to domestic manufacturing and export sectors, including packaging, consumer goods, electronics, and automotive components.
