Vietnam imported cars to the tune of US$590 million in March, up from US$359 million in February, a change of 64.33 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$1,330 million worth of cars by the end of March.
China led Vietnam’s car imports in March with US$262 million, up from US$123 million in February, a 113.55 percent increase, bringing year-to-date imports to US$607 million.
Indonesia followed with US$158 million, rising from US$107 million, a 46.75 percent increase, with year-to-date imports reaching US$322 million.
Thailand recorded US$116 million, up from US$98 million, an 18.00 percent increase, while Japan surged to US$39 million from US$11 million, a 250.60 percent increase.
Germany rounded out the top five with US$4 million, up from US$2 million, a 78.01 percent increase, with year-to-date imports totalling US$13 million.
