Vietnam-UK trade relations
Vietnam and the United Kingdom maintain a growing trade relationship under the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), which came into force in 2021 following the UK’s exit from the European Union.
The agreement largely replicates the commitments of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, reducing tariffs, improving market access, and strengthening regulatory alignment across goods and services.
Bilateral trade has expanded steadily, with Vietnam exporting electronics, textiles, footwear, and agricultural products, while the UK exports pharmaceuticals, machinery, and financial services.
The UK has positioned Vietnam as a key partner in Southeast Asia, with cooperation extending beyond trade into areas such as green finance, energy transition, and education.
