Plastic products exports from Vietnam up 8.08 percent in October, USA and Japan top buyers

Vietnam exported plastic products to the tune of US$641 million in October, 8.08 percent over September, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Year to date, Vietnam had exported US$6,138 million worth of plastic products by the end of October.

In October, Vietnam’s top export destination for plastic products was the USA, accounting for US$333 million worth. This was up 10.17 percent over September. Year to date, Vietnam has shipped US$3,088 million worth of plastic products to the USA.

After the USA, Japan was the next biggest buyer of plastic products from Vietnam. There was US$64 million worth of plastic products shipped from Vietnam to Japan in October, a jump of 5.05 percent. Its total for the year to date is now sitting at US$617 million.

South Korea was also a major buyer, with US$25 million worth of plastic products shipped to the country from Vietnam in October. This was a up 6.69 percent compared to September, for a total of US$242 million for the year so far.

Rounding out the top five was India spending US$21 million on Vietnam’s plastic products, a 2.76 percent change for a total of US$235 million for the year, and China with US$20 million, a 3.15 percent change month-on-month, for a total of US$166 million.

APH closed at VND 6,710 on Friday down 0.03 percent with 5,678,000 shares traded, worth VND 3,804 million.

Foreign ownership in APH is currently capped at 0.0 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 0.0 percent.

Binh Minh Plastics JSC

Binh Minh Plastics JSC (BMP) manufactures and distributes plastic pipes, fittings, and construction materials for water and drainage systems.

BMP closed at VND 156,600 on Friday down 0.4 percent with 941,000 shares traded, worth VND 14,795 million.

Foreign ownership in BMP is currently capped at 100 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 85.3 percent.

Vietnam’s plastics industry

Vietnam’s plastic products industry plays a key role in supplying packaging, household goods, and components for manufacturing and export.

The sector has grown alongside the expansion of electronics, textiles, and consumer goods production, creating strong demand for both basic and specialised plastics.
