Overview of plastics manufacturing

Vietnam’s plastic products industry is a key manufacturing sector supporting exports in packaging, household goods, construction, and automotive components.

The industry benefits from a strong base of small and medium-sized producers, competitive labour costs, and increasing foreign investment, particularly from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Domestic demand continues to rise due to rapid urbanisation and retail expansion.

However, the sector faces challenges from volatile resin prices, environmental regulations, and growing pressure to adopt recycled and biodegradable materials.
