Vietnam-China news
Recent developments in the Vietnam-China trade and investment relationship.
New Chinese-investment in Quang Ninh
China’s Xiamen Solex High-Tech Industries has inaugurated an US$80 million or about VND 1.93 trillion high-tech assembly plant in Bac Tien Phong Industrial Park, Quang Ninh.
The 67,000-square-metre facility will produce smart sanitary equipment, electronic components, and personal care devices. Phase 1, with annual capacity of 6,300 tonnes, will begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2025, followed by Phase 2 in late 2026.
Anti-circumvention investigation Chinese steel
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched an investigation into suspected evasion of trade defence measures on hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel imported from China.
The probe targets Chinese HRC products between 1,880mm and 2,300mm wide, following earlier anti-dumping duties imposed in July ranging from 23.1 to 27.83 percent for five years.
The investigation follows petitions from Hoa Phat Group and Formosa Ha Tinh Steel.
Vietnam-China trade relations
Vietnam and China share one of the largest bilateral trade relationships in Asia, underpinned by close geographic, economic, and political ties.
The two countries have signed multiple cooperation agreements on trade, investment, and transport, including commitments under the ASEAN–China Free Trade Area.
China has consistently been Vietnam’s largest trading partner and a key source of machinery, raw materials, and intermediate goods.
Bilateral trade has expanded rapidly, with Vietnam exporting agricultural products, electronics, and textiles while importing industrial inputs and consumer goods from China.
