Vietnam-Thailand trade overview
Vietnam and Thailand maintain one of the largest bilateral trade relationships in Southeast Asia, driven by strong manufacturing and consumer goods linkages.
Thailand is a major supplier of machinery, automobiles, petrochemicals, and processed food to Vietnam, while Vietnam exports electronics, agricultural products, and textiles to Thailand.
The trade balance has traditionally been in Thailand’s favour due to Vietnam’s high import demand for industrial inputs and components.
Both countries aim to strengthen cooperation through the ASEAN Free Trade Area and regional frameworks such as the RCEP.
Expanding cross-border logistics, renewable energy projects, and digital trade are emerging as new areas of collaboration as Vietnam and Thailand work toward their joint target of US$25 billion in annual two-way trade in the coming years.
