Vietnam and Thailand maintain one of the largest bilateral trade relationships in Southeast Asia, driven by complementary manufacturing bases and strong regional supply chains.
Thailand is consistently among Vietnam’s top ASEAN trading partners, supplying a wide range of goods including electronics, machinery, vehicles, petroleum, and industrial materials, while importing agricultural products, processed foods, and manufactured goods from Vietnam.
Trade between the two economies remains imbalanced, with Vietnam typically running a deficit due to its heavy reliance on Thai intermediate and consumer goods.
However, growing investment and cooperation in energy, logistics, and retail are helping diversify the relationship.
Both countries are also working to expand two-way trade under the ASEAN Economic Community framework, targeting greater integration in regional production networks.
