Vietnam-Netherlands trade relations
Vietnam and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations in 1973 and have since developed one of the strongest economic partnerships between Vietnam and a European nation.
The Netherlands is consistently among Vietnam’s top trading partners in the EU and a major source of foreign direct investment, particularly in sectors like logistics, high technology, and renewable energy.
A key framework supporting bilateral trade is the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which took effect in August 2020.
The agreement removed most tariffs and simplified customs procedures, helping Dutch firms expand exports of machinery, chemicals, and agricultural products to Vietnam while boosting Vietnamese shipments of electronics, footwear, and agricultural goods to the Netherlands.
