Vietnam-Italy trade environment
Vietnam and Italy established diplomatic relations in 1973, marking the beginning of a long partnership grounded in trade, development, and cultural exchange.
In 2013, the two nations upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership, expanding cooperation in areas such as industry, education, and sustainable development.
A key driver of bilateral trade is the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which came into force in August 2020.
The agreement eliminated most tariffs and strengthened access for goods and services, boosting trade in electronics, machinery, footwear, and agri-food products between the two countries.
