Wood manufacturing in Vietnam
Vietnam’s wood manufacturing industry is one of its most established export sectors, supported by abundant raw materials, skilled labour, and competitive production costs.
The country is among the world’s top five exporters of wood and wooden products, with major markets including the United States, China, Japan, and South Korea.
Most manufacturers are based in provinces such as Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Binh Dinh, specialising in furniture, plywood, and interior fittings.
The sector benefits from Vietnam’s extensive network of trade agreements, but faces ongoing challenges related to sustainable sourcing, certification, and compliance with regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
Despite these pressures, investment in automation, FSC-certified timber, and design innovation continues to strengthen Vietnam’s position as a key global hub for wood processing and furniture production.
Moreover, Vietnam’s wood industry in recent months has come under increasing strain from US trade policy.
