Singapore ships US$455.89 million of goods to Vietnam in September, up 9.34 percent month-on-month

Vietnam’s imports from Singapore rose 9.34 percent in September 2025 to US$455.89 million, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Year-to-date imports reached US$4.46 billion, highlighting Singapore’s continued importance as a key supplier of refined fuels, electronics and industrial equipment.

Petroleum products remained the largest import item at US$131.04 million, though slightly down 1.06 percent from August.

Computers, electrical products and components surged 24.21 percent to US$100.06 million, reflecting stronger demand from Vietnam’s electronics sector.

Imports of machinery, tools and instruments also increased 24.25 percent to US$33.30 million, driven by manufacturing and infrastructure needs.

Essential oils, cosmetics and related goods rose 4.20 percent to US$31.02 million, while edible food preparations jumped 71.81 percent to US$26.23 million.

Several smaller categories saw sharp monthly gains, including paper, ores and mineral products, and animal and vegetable oils, though from a low base.

In contrast, plastics, chemicals and petroleum derivatives recorded moderate declines.

Overall, Singapore remains one of Vietnam’s top regional suppliers across energy, technology and consumer goods, reinforcing trade links between the two economies.

Vietnam—Singapore bilateral trade YTD

Vietnam’s trade with Singapore rose in September 2025, with total turnover increasing 6.69 percent from August to US$959.84 million.

Exports reached US$503.95 million, up 4.41 percent, while imports climbed faster by 9.34 percent to US$455.89 million.

As a result, Vietnam’s trade surplus with Singapore narrowed sharply by 26.89 percent to US$48.06 million.

Year-to-date, Vietnam recorded a trade deficit of US$121.08 million with Singapore.

Vietnam—Singapore trade overview
