Vietnam-Canada trade relations
Vietnam and Canada established diplomatic relations in 1973 and have since built a strong partnership grounded in trade, investment, and development cooperation.
The relationship expanded significantly after the signing of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in 2018, which reduced tariffs and improved market access for both countries.
Today, Canada is one of Vietnam’s leading trading partners in the Americas, while Vietnam is Canada’s top trading partner in ASEAN.
Bilateral cooperation extends beyond trade to include education, climate resilience, and sustainable development, supported by regular high-level dialogues and growing business engagement under the CPTPP framework.
