Vietnam’s cashew nut industry
Vietnam is the world’s largest exporter of cashew nuts, supplying major markets including the United States, the European Union and China.
The industry processes millions of tonnes of raw cashew nuts each year, with much of the input imported from African producers due to limited domestic supply.
Processing is concentrated in southern provinces such as Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai, where a dense network of factories supports shelling, grading and packaging for export.
While the sector generates billions of dollars in annual export revenue, margins are often thin, and firms remain exposed to fluctuations in global demand and raw material prices.
