Indonesia ships US$1.16 billion worth of goods to Vietnam in December, up 20.16 percent month-on-month

In December, Vietnam imported US$1,159.43 million worth of goods from Indonesia, up from US$964.90 million in November, a change of 20.16 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

So far this year, Vietnam has imported US$11,519 million worth of goods from Indonesia.

Vietnam imported US$244.68 million worth of iron and steel from Indonesia in December. This was up from US$139.79 million in November, a change of 75.04 percent.

Vietnam imported US$183.96 million worth of coal from Indonesia in December. This was up from US$126.14 million in November, a change of 45.84 percent.

Vietnam imported US$113.96 million worth of other base metals from Indonesia in December. This was up from US$99.41 million in November, a change of 14.63 percent.

Vietnam imported US$78.61 million worth of motor vehicles from Indonesia in December. This was down from US$100.97 million in November, a change of -22.15 percent.

Vietnam trade with Indonesia

In December, Vietnam imported goods worth US$1,159.43 million from Indonesia and exported US$473.04 million, bringing total trade to US$1,632.47 million and resulting in a trade deficit of US$686.39 million.

Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and Indonesia has reached US$17,255.12 million, with Vietnam importing US$11,519.11 million worth of goods and exporting US$5,736.02 million.

Recent developments in trade and investment between the two countries include:

VinFast factory Indonesia inaugurated

VinFast inaugurated its electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Subang, West Java, on December 15, marking its first operational factory in Indonesia and Southeast Asia outside Vietnam.

The facility was completed after 17 months of construction and represents a total planned investment of more than US$1 billion, with phase one capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year.
