Taiwan ships US$3 billion of goods to Vietnam in October, down 0.80 percent

In October, Vietnam imported US$3 billion worth of goods from Taiwan, down 0.80 percent over September, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

So far this year, Vietnam has imported US$27,107 million worth of goods from Taiwan.

Vietnam’s biggest import from Taiwan in value terms was computers, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof, worth US$2200.17 million. This was down 1.87 percent over September. It brings the total imported so far this year to US$19420.64 million.

This was followed by machine, equipment, tools and instruments, valued at US$123.25 million, down 7.98 percent from September. Year-to-date these imports reached US$1269.54 million.

Fabrics were also popular imports from Taiwan, totalling US$117.89 million, falling 14.08 percent over September. Cumulative imports now stand at US$1,280.77 million.

Plastics also featured prominently, accounting for US$91.05 million worth of imports from Taiwan, an increase of 14.06 percent versus September. Total imports so far this year are sitting at US$984.01 million.

Imports of iron and steel from Taiwan round out the top five, valued at US$73.29 million.

Vietnam trade with Taiwan

In October, Vietnam imported goods worth US$2,990.01 million from Taiwan and exported US$520.50 million, bringing total trade to US$3,510.51 million and resulting in a trade deficit of US$2,469.50 million.

Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and Taiwan has reached US$32,580.73 million, with Vietnam importing US$27,106.51 million worth of goods and exporting US$5,474.22 million.

In October, Vietnam exported US$521 billion worth of goods to Taiwan, down 2.83 percent over September, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

So far this year, Vietnam has exported US$5,474 million worth of goods to Taiwan.

Vietnam total trade with Taiwan

In October, Vietnam imported US$2,990.01 million worth of goods from Taiwan and exported US$520.50 million, for total trade worth US$3,510.51 million, and leaving a trade deficit of US$2,469.50 million.

Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and Taiwan has reached US$32,581 million, with Vietnam importing US$27,107 million worth of goods and exporting US$5,474 million worth of goods.

Payday lender Taiwan cash injection

F88 has secured its first strategic loan from Taiwan’s leading financial group Chailease Holding.

The one-year loan was disbursed in early November through Chailease International Financial Services in Singapore.

An F88 representative said the funds will support digital transformation and business expansion in line with its commitments.

Taiwan bid CPTPP China Vietnam

Taipei’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reportedly called on Vietnam to “fairly and effectively” handle Taiwan’s application to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Vietnam will chair the CPTPP council in 2026 and oversee new membership procedures.

China has also applied to join the CPTPP and opposes Taiwan’s bid, raising concerns that Beijing’s influence could affect Vietnam’s stance.

Vietnam-Taiwan trade relations

Vietnam and Taiwan have built steady trade relations over several decades, driven by complementary industrial strengths and Taiwan’s early investment in Vietnam’s manufacturing sector.

Both sides maintain active economic cooperation through industry associations and investment promotion frameworks, supporting long-term engagement despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties.

Trade has grown around electronics, machinery, textiles, and materials, with Taiwanese firms operating major factories across Vietnam’s industrial zones.

Ongoing cooperation is strengthened through technology sharing, supply chain integration, and regular business exchanges that deepen commercial links.
