Vietnam-Taiwan trade relations

Vietnam and Taiwan maintain strong but unofficial economic relations, with trade and investment driving cooperation despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties.

Taiwan is a major supplier of machinery, components and materials to Vietnam, while importing electronics, computers and steel from Vietnamese firms.

Vietnam’s advantages include a young workforce and competitive production costs, making it an attractive base for Taiwanese firms shifting operations from China.

The relationship faces a persistent trade deficit for Vietnam, but it remains one of the most dynamic economic partnerships in Asia.
