Taiwan ships US$3.01 billion of goods to Vietnam in September, down 1.84 percent

Vietnam’s imports from Taiwan fell 1.84 percent in September 2025 to US$3.01 billion, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Year-to-date imports reached US$24.12 billion, reflecting Taiwan’s role as one of Vietnam’s largest suppliers of electronics and industrial inputs.

Computers, electrical products, spare parts and components dominated imports at US$2.24 billion, down 2.11 percent month-on-month.

Fabric imports rose 12.03 percent to US$137.20 million, while machinery and equipment climbed 3.01 percent to US$133.94 million.

Key declines were seen in plastics, chemicals, and steel, with plastic imports down 9.82 percent and chemicals down 5.64 percent.

Other significant movements included a sharp rise in petroleum products, up 41.06 percent, and ores, which jumped over fivefold to US$6.78 million.

Overall, Taiwan remains a critical supplier for Vietnam’s manufacturing and export industries, particularly in electronics, materials, and precision components.

Vietnam’s exports to Taiwan reached US$535.67 million in September 2025, slightly down 0.87 percent from August.

Year-to-date exports totalled US$4.95 billion.

Vietnam trade with Taiwan

Vietnam’s total trade with Taiwan reached US$3.55 billion in September 2025, down 1.70 percent from August.

Exports slipped 0.87 percent to US$535.67 million, while imports decreased 1.84 percent to US$3.01 billion.

Year-to-date trade between the two economies totalled US$29.07 billion, with Vietnam recording a trade deficit of US$19.16 billion.

Vietnam-Taiwan trade relations

Vietnam and Taiwan maintain a strong and expanding trade relationship driven by manufacturing supply chains and technology cooperation.

Taiwan is among Vietnam’s largest sources of machinery, electronic components, and high-tech materials, supporting industries such as semiconductors, textiles, and consumer electronics.

Vietnam, in turn, exports goods including garments, footwear, and agricultural products to Taiwan, contributing to balanced regional trade integration.

The partnership has deepened through increasing Taiwanese investment in Vietnam’s industrial parks, renewable energy, and logistics sectors.
