Vietnam’s rice industry
Vietnam is one of the world’s leading rice producers and exporters, supported by vast growing areas in the Mekong and Red River deltas.
Production has been driven by high-yield varieties, irrigation networks and long-term investment in farming techniques.
The country exports millions of tonnes each year, with major markets including the Philippines, Indonesia and parts of Africa.
Shifts toward higher-quality and fragrant rice varieties have strengthened competitiveness, while farmers face challenges from climate change, salinity and rising input costs.
