Of note, Vietnam and Malaysia maintain a strong and diversified trade relationship, shaped by their complementary industrial structures and shared membership in ASEAN.

Malaysia is one of Vietnam’s largest regional partners, supplying energy products, raw materials, and high-value industrial components, while importing agricultural commodities, electronics, and processed goods from Vietnam.

Trade between the two countries remains robust but imbalanced, with Vietnam typically recording a deficit due to substantial imports of petroleum, machinery, and electronic parts.

At the same time, Vietnam’s exports of rice, coffee, iron and steel, and manufactured goods have grown steadily, reflecting broader regional integration in production networks.

Both countries are also strengthening investment and logistics cooperation to deepen supply-chain connectivity under ASEAN and RCEP frameworks.
