ToggleIn October, Vietnam exported US$458 million worth of goods to Malaysia, up 4.82 percent over September, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
So far this year, Vietnam has exported US$4.3 billion worth of goods to Malaysia.
Vietnam’s biggest export to Malaysia in value terms was computers, electrical products, and spare-parts, with US$71.63 million worth shipped. This was down 3.58 percent over September. It brings the total exported so far this year to US$729.18 million.
This was followed by machines, equipment, tools and instruments, valued at US$58.70 million, down 0.67 percent from September. Year-to-date these exports reached US$430.48 million.
Iron and steel also featured prominently accounting for US$36.04 million worth of exports to Malaysia, a decline of 8.14 percent versus September. Total exports so far this year are US$343.20 million.
Exports of telephones, mobile phones and parts thereof to Malaysia round out the top five, with US$33.34 million shipped.

Vietnam imports from Malaysia
In October, Vietnam imported US$977 million worth of goods from Malaysia, up 1.22 percent over September, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
So far this year, Vietnam has imported US$9,162 million worth of goods from Malaysia.

Vietnam trade with Malaysia
In October, Vietnam imported US$977.25 million worth of goods from Malaysia and exported US$457.90 million, for total trade worth US$1,435.14 million, and leaving a trade deficit of US$519.35 million.
Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and Malaysia has reached US$13,497 million, with Vietnam importing US$9,162 million worth of goods and exporting US$4,335 million worth of goods.

Vietnam-Malaysia trade relations
Vietnam and Malaysia have maintained close economic and trade cooperation under both bilateral and regional frameworks.
As fellow ASEAN members, they participate in agreements such as the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which collectively support tariff reduction and market access between the two economies.
Bilateral trade has expanded steadily, covering key sectors such as electronics, petroleum, machinery, and agricultural products.
Both countries have signed agreements on investment promotion, air transport, and technical cooperation, strengthening supply chain integration and energy collaboration.
