Vietnam’s plastics industry
Vietnam’s plastics industry is a major manufacturing sector, serving domestic consumption and export markets across packaging, consumer goods, construction, and industrial components.
The sector benefits from strong foreign direct investment, competitive labour costs, and integration into regional and global supply chains.
Plastic products are among Vietnam’s key manufactured exports, with major markets including the United States, Japan, the European Union, and ASEAN.
However, the industry faces rising pressure to improve environmental performance, increase recycling, and reduce dependence on imported raw materials.
