Vietnam’s imports of plastic products reached US$979.07 million in September 2025, up 3.14 percent month-on-month, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports reached US$7.87 billion.
China remained the dominant supplier with US$632.61 million, up 2.22 percent from August.
South Korea followed with US$133.15 million, rising 6.26 percent.
Japan supplied US$86.61 million, up 5.51 percent.
Imports from Taiwan and Thailand fell slightly, while the USA recorded a 19.8 percent drop to US$15.15 million.
Notable growth came from Indonesia (up 28.66 percent), Switzerland (up 13.97 percent), and Canada (up 143.98 percent).

Vietnam’s exports of plastic products declined month-on-month in September 2025.
Total export value reached US$592.93 million, down from US$637.43 million in August.

Binh Minh Plastics JSC
Binh Minh Plastics JSC (BMP) manufactures plastic pipes and fittings for water supply, drainage, telecommunications, and construction industries.
BMP closed at VND 167,000 on Monday down 7 percent with 1,178,000 shares traded, worth VND 19,917 million.
Foreign ownership in BMP is currently capped at 100.0 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 85.1 percent.
Hanoi Plastics JSC
Hanoi Plastics JSC (NHH) produces industrial and engineering plastic products including motorbike and automotive parts, molds, and pallets.
NHH closed at VND 11,300 on Monday up 0.1 percent with 635,000 shares traded, worth VND 720 million.
Foreign ownership in NHH is currently capped at 100.0 percent, with current foreign ownership sitting at 0.3 percent.

Vietnam’s plastics industry
Vietnam’s plastics industry is expanding steadily and plays a key role in national manufacturing.
Growth is driven by strong demand in packaging, construction, electronics, and automotive parts.
Most companies are small private manufacturers, while major listed players include Binh Minh Plastics and Tien Phong Plastic.
The sector depends heavily on imported resins, making it sensitive to global supply and cost changes.
Environmental regulations are tightening, encouraging investment in recycling and sustainable materials.
Despite these challenges, domestic consumption and export manufacturing continue to make Vietnam an attractive base for plastics production and investment.
