Germany ships US$455.12 million worth of goods to Vietnam in December, up 46.37 percent month-on-month

In December, Vietnam imported US$455.12 million worth of goods from Germany, up from US$310.94 million in November, a change of 46.37 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

So far this year, Vietnam has imported US$4,133 million worth of goods from Germany.

Vietnam imported US$202.44 million worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments from Germany in December. This was up from US$125.41 million in November, a change of 61.42 percent.

Vietnam imported US$33.13 million worth of pharmaceutical products from Germany in December. This was up from US$23.79 million in November, a change of 39.28 percent.

Vietnam imported US$29.72 million worth of chemicals from Germany in December. This was up from US$16.95 million in November, a change of 75.33 percent.

Vietnam imported US$25.32 million worth of computers, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof from Germany in December. This was up from US$18.48 million in November, a change of 37.04 percent.

Vietnam exports to Germany

In December, Vietnam exported US$928 million worth of goods to Germany, up 14.84 percent over November, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

So far this year, Vietnam has exported US$9,533 million worth of goods to Germany.

Vietnam trade with Germany

In December, Vietnam imported US$455.12 million worth of goods from Germany and exported US$928.27 million to Germany, for total trade worth US$1,383.39 million, and leaving a trade surplus of US$473.15 million.

Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and Germany has reached US$13,666 million, with Vietnam importing US$4,133 million worth of goods and exporting US$9,533 million worth of goods.

Recent developments involving the two countries include:

Arrest warrant journalist Germany

Vietnamese journalist Le Trung Khoa, currently based out of Germany, has been placed on a national wanted list for allegedly making, storing or disseminating information, documents or items against the State of Vietnam.

Investigators from the Ministry of Public Security have charged the 1971-born Vietnamese citizen under Article 117(2) of the Penal Code.

Police have called on him to surrender to receive leniency under the law.

Vietnam-Germany trade relations

Vietnam and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1975, laying the foundation for long-term political and economic cooperation.

Trade ties expanded steadily after Vietnam’s economic reforms, with Germany becoming Vietnam’s largest trading partner within the European Union.
