Germany ships US$310.94 million worth of goods to Vietnam in November, down 17.96 percent month-on-month

In November, Vietnam imported US$310.94 million worth of goods from Germany, down from US$379.03 million in October, a change of -17.96 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

So far this year, Vietnam has imported US$3,671 million worth of goods from Germany.

Vietnam imported US$125.41 million worth of machines, equipment, tools and instruments from Germany in November. This was down from US$166.52 million in October, a change of -24.69 percent.

Vietnam imported US$23.79 million worth of pharmaceutical products from Germany in November. This was down from US$30.52 million in October, a change of -22.07 percent.

Vietnam imported US$21.34 million worth of chemical products from Germany in November. This was down from US$24.17 million in October, a change of -11.69 percent.

Vietnam imported US$18.48 million worth of computers, electrical products, spare-parts and components thereof from Germany in November. This was down from US$25.17 million in October, a change of -26.60 percent.

In November, Vietnam exported US$808 million worth of goods to Germany, down 1.24 percent over October, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

So far this year, Vietnam has exported US$8,590 million worth of goods to Germany.

Vietnam trade with Germany

In November, Vietnam imported US$310.94 million worth of goods from Germany and exported US$808.33 million, for total trade worth US$1,119.27 million, and leaving a trade surplus of US$497.38 million.

Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and Germany has reached US$12,260 million, with Vietnam importing US$3,671 million worth of goods and exporting US$8,590 million worth of goods.

Recent developments involving the two countries include:

Arrest warrant journalist Germany

Vietnamese-German journalist Le Trung Khoa has been placed on Vietnam’s national wanted list for allegedly making, storing or disseminating information, documents or items against the State of Vietnam.

Investigators from the Ministry of Public Security have charged the 1971-born Vietnamese citizen under Article 117(2) of the Penal Code.

Arrest warrant activist Germany

Vietnam police have issued an arrest warrant for Germany-based activist and lawyer Nguyen Van Dai, accusing him of creating and spreading material deemed anti-state.

Dai has responded, saying the accusations only draw more public attention to his work, and noted he has been a political refugee in Germany since 2018.

Vietnam-Germany trade relations

Vietnam and Germany established diplomatic relations in 1975 and have built a strong economic partnership centred on trade, investment and industrial cooperation.
