Pharmaceutical products imports Vietnam down 18.96 percent in November, USA / Italy top suppliers

Vietnam imported pharmaceutical products to the tune of US$284 million in November, down from US$350 million in October, a change of -18.96 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$3,844 million worth of pharmaceutical products by the end of November.

The USA accounted for US$39 million worth of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical products imports in November. This was down from US$71 million in pharmaceutical products imports in October, a change of 45.20 percent. Year to date, the USA has shipped US$485 million worth of pharmaceutical products to Vietnam.

After the USA was Italy making up US$31 million worth of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical products imports in November. This was up from US$24 million in pharmaceutical products imports in October, a change of 33.21 percent. Year to date, Italy has shipped US$282 million worth of pharmaceutical products to Vietnam.

Next was France contributing US$31 million worth of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical products imports in November. This was down from US$41 million in pharmaceutical products imports in October, a change of 23.10 percent. Year to date, France has shipped US$449 million worth of pharmaceutical products to Vietnam.

Following France was Germany representing US$24 million worth of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical products imports in November. This was down from US$31 million in pharmaceutical products imports in October, a change of 22.07 percent. Year to date, Germany has shipped US$368 million worth of pharmaceutical products to Vietnam.

Rounding out the top five was India constituting US$18 million worth of Vietnam’s pharmaceutical products imports in November. This was down from US$23 million in pharmaceutical products imports in October, a change of 23.06 percent. Year to date, India has shipped US$264 million worth of pharmaceutical products to Vietnam.

South Korea medical container factory

HuM&C, a healthcare materials subsidiary of Huons Group, has launched its first overseas medical container factory in Hung Yen Province, Vietnam, with full-scale production starting in the second quarter of 2025.

The Vietnam facility, operated by HuM&C Vina, can produce 60 million vials and 40 million cartridges annually, positioning it as a global production hub.

Healthcare industry report

Vietnam Report has released the results of a survey showing 60.7 percent of companies reported higher revenue in the first nine months of 2025, but only 42.9 percent saw profit growth, reflecting tougher competition in the sector.
