Machines/equipment imports Vietnam, down 1.29 percent in November, China/South Korea top suppliers

Vietnam imported machine, equipment, tools and instruments to the tune of US$5,213 million in November, down from US$5,281 million in October, a change of -1.29 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$54,752 million worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments by the end of November.

China accounted for US$3,337 million worth of Vietnam’s machine and equipment imports in November. This was up from US$3,216 million in machine and equipment imports in October, a change of 3.76 percent. Year to date, China has shipped US$34,750 million worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments to Vietnam.

After China was South Korea making up US$401 million worth of Vietnam’s machine and equipment imports in November. This was up from US$362 million in machine and equipment imports in October, a change of 10.95 percent. Year to date, South Korea has shipped US$4,218 million worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments to Vietnam.

Next was Japan contributing US$391 million worth of Vietnam’s machine and equipment imports in November. This was up from US$385 million in machine and equipment imports in October, a change of 1.59 percent. Year to date, Japan has shipped US$4,420 million worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments to Vietnam.

Following Japan was Taiwan representing US$144 million worth of Vietnam’s machine, equipment, tools and instruments imports in November. This was up from US$123 million in machine and equipment imports in October, a change of 17.04 percent. Year to date, Taiwan has shipped US$1,414 million worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments to Vietnam.

Rounding out the top five was Germany constituting US$125 million worth of Vietnam’s machine, equipment, tools and instruments imports in November. This was down from US$167 million in machine and equipment imports in October, a change of 24.69 percent. Year to date, Germany has shipped US$1,397 million worth of machine, equipment, tools and instruments to Vietnam.

Vietnam’s machine and equipment industry

Vietnam’s machine and equipment manufacturing industry is expanding alongside the country’s industrialisation, supporting sectors such as construction, energy, agriculture and manufacturing.
