Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$1,110 million worth of plastics by the end of January.
China accounted for US$366 million worth of Vietnam’s plastics imports in January. This was down from US$388 million in plastics imports in December, a change of 5.77 percent. Year to date, China has shipped US$366 million worth of plastics to Vietnam.
After China was South Korea making up US$170 million worth of Vietnam’s plastics imports in January. This was down from US$185 million in plastics imports in December, a change of 8.18 percent. Year to date, South Korea has shipped US$170 million worth of plastics to Vietnam.
Next was the USA contributing US$125 million worth of Vietnam’s plastics imports in January. This was up from US$113 million in plastics imports in December, a change of 11.21 percent. Year to date, USA has shipped US$125 million worth of plastics to Vietnam.
Following the USA was Taiwan representing US$96 million worth of Vietnam’s plastics imports in January. This was up from US$91 million in plastics imports in December, a change of 5.25 percent. Year to date, Taiwan has shipped US$96 million worth of plastics to Vietnam.
Rounding out the top five was Saudi Arabia constituting US$91 million worth of Vietnam’s plastics imports in January. This was up from US$80 million in plastics imports in December, a change of 13.94 percent. Year to date, Saudi Arabia has shipped US$91 million worth of plastics to Vietnam.

Norfund, a Norwegian investment fund, invested US$4 million in Circular Plastics Company to expand industrial polyethylene terephthalate recycling in Vietnam.
The funding will support capital expenditure and working capital for CPC’s recycling plant near Ho Chi Minh City.
