Vietnam plastic products imports down 3.25% in January 2026, China +0.01 / South Korea -0.07%

Vietnam imported plastic products to the tune of US$1,032 million in January, down from US$1,067 million in December, a change of -3.25 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Year to date, Vietnam had imported US$1,032 million worth of plastic products by the end of January.

China accounted for US$688 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in January. This was up from US$678 million in plastic products imports in December, a change of 1.41 percent. Year to date, China has shipped US$688 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.

After China was South Korea making up US$136 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in January. This was down from US$147 million in plastic products imports in December, a change of 7.23 percent. Year to date, South Korea has shipped US$136 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.

Next was Japan contributing US$74 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in January. This was down from US$89 million in plastic products imports in December, a change of 17.18 percent. Year to date, Japan has shipped US$74 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.

Following Japan was Taiwan representing US$32 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in January. This was down from US$33 million in plastic products imports in December, a change of 0.77 percent. Year to date, Taiwan has shipped US$32 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.

Rounding out the top five was Thailand constituting US$21 million worth of Vietnam’s plastic products imports in January. This was down from US$27 million in plastic products imports in December, a change of 21.97 percent. Year to date, Thailand has shipped US$21 million worth of plastic products to Vietnam.
