So far this year, Vietnam has imported US$6,089 million worth of goods from South Korea.
Vietnam imported US$4,147.46 million worth of computers from South Korea in January. This was up from US$3,855.69 million in December, a change of 7.57 percent.
Vietnam imported US$424.37 million worth of machines, equipment, tools and instruments from South Korea in January. This was down from US$549.12 million in December, a change of -22.72 percent.
Vietnam imported US$169.77 million worth of plastics from South Korea in January. This was down from US$184.90 million in December, a change of -8.18 percent.
Vietnam imported US$157.86 million worth of petroleum products from South Korea in January. This was up from US$136.02 million in December, a change of 16.05 percent.
Vietnam imported US$136.23 million worth of plastic products from South Korea in January. This was down from US$146.84 million in December, a change of -7.23 percent.

Vietnam exports to South Korea
In January, Vietnam exported US$2,663 million worth of goods to South Korea, down 1.62 percent over December, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Vietnam trade with South Korea
In January, Vietnam imported US$6,089.06 million worth of goods from South Korea and exported US$2,662.80 million to South Korea, for total trade worth US$8,751.87 million, and leaving a trade deficit of US$3,426.26 million.
Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and South Korea has reached US$8,752 million, with Vietnam importing US$6,089 million worth of goods and exporting US$2,663 million worth of goods.

South Korea-led LNG project approved
SK Innovation has announced it has been selected to develop the Quen Lap liquefied natural gas power project in Nghe An Province through a consortium with PV Power, a subsidiary of Petrovietnam.
The US$2.3 billion project will include a 1,500 megawatt gas-fired combined cycle plant, an LNG terminal and a dedicated port, with construction scheduled to begin in 2027 and finish by 2030.
Korean venture fund acquires Vietnam chicken chain
South Korea’s The Ventures has acquired management rights and majority shareholder status in Chicken Plus Vietnam.
The company aims to expand to 270 delivery-focused small-format stores in Vietnam within four years and establish its own chicken farm to vertically integrate production and distribution.

Vietnam-South Korea trade relations
Vietnam and South Korea established diplomatic relations in 1992 and have since developed one of Asia’s most dynamic trade and investment partnerships.
The two countries signed the Vietnam–Korea Free Trade Agreement in 2015, building on the ASEAN–Korea Free Trade Area, further reducing tariffs and expanding market access across goods, services and investment.
South Korea is one of Vietnam’s largest foreign investors, led by major conglomerates in electronics, manufacturing and construction, while bilateral trade has expanded rapidly over the past decade.
Trade is supported by supply chain integration in sectors such as electronics, textiles, machinery and steel, with South Korea a key export market and source of intermediate inputs for Vietnam’s industrial sector.
