VinFast Chinese supplier expansion
CLS is reporting that Chinese suppliers are expanding their role in VinFast’s supply chain, with listed Chinese firms including Gotion High Tech, Feilong Auto Components and Hongfa Technology disclosing supply relationships or joint venture plans linked to VinFast.
Hongfa Technology’s subsidiary plans to invest VND1.35 billion (US$51,000) in a joint venture with VinFast Trading and Production Joint Stock Company in Vietnam, the article notes.

Cultural industries development
Vietnam News is reporting that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to draft an action plan and develop a national target programme on culture, with a resolution to be submitted to the National Assembly Standing Committee.
The Prime Minister called for decentralisation, streamlined licensing procedures and a shift from management to governance with clearer resource allocation and supervision.

Fake news crackdown
VN Economy is reporting that the Ministry of Public Security has drafted a decree proposing measures to prevent and handle violations related to fake and false information.
The draft proposes establishing a National Data Centre for preventing and combating fake information, managed by the Ministry of Public Security to receive reports, issue warnings, and coordinate data sharing across agencies.

Viettel chairman on telecommunications sector
The Investor is reporting that Viettel Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tao Duc Thang has warned that sustaining growth will be increasingly difficult as Vietnam’s telecom market reaches saturation.
The company reported 2025 revenue of VND220.4 trillion (US$8.37 billion) and pre-tax profit of VND56.8 trillion (US$2.16 billion), up 13.8 percent and 4.5 percent year on year.

Quang Ninh OKs VinSpeed US$5.6 billion rail project
Dau Tu Kien Thuc is reporting that the Quang Ninh People’s Committee has, in principle appoved the 39.3 kilometre section of a VinSpeed high-speed railway project through Quang Ninh, which will include two stations at Yen Tu and Ha Long Xanh, covering about 277.5 hectares of land.
The double-track, electrified line with 1.435 metre gauge is estimated to cost over VND147,000 billion (US$5.58 billion), excluding VND10,270 billion (US$390 million) for site clearance funded by the State.

HCMC tourism revenue Tet
VN Economy is reporting that Ho Chi Minh City earned VND12,150 billion (US$461.1 million) from tourism during the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday from February 14 to 22, up 42.9 percent year on year.
The city received about 4.32 million visitors, up 35 percent year on year, including 170,000 international arrivals, up 51.7 percent, with average hotel occupancy at 75 percent.

New local car brand
Dan Tri is reporting that Thaco Auto will launch a passenger car brand under the Thaco name in 2027, according to chairman Tran Ba Duong’s message to staff on February 23.
If it goes ahead, Thaco would become the second domestic passenger car brand in Vietnam after VinFast, though no segment or engine details were disclosed.

Thai fridge maker fined
Dau Tu Kien Thuc is reporting that the National Competition Commission issued Decision 423 QD CT on December 26, 2025, fining Casper SE, the local arm of the Thai consumer electronics and home appliance brand, VND200 million (US$7,590) for misleading product information.
The authority said the company provided information that could confuse customers to attract clients from other businesses, violating Article 45 of the Competition Law.
