Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables industry

Vietnam’s fruit and vegetables industry has expanded rapidly over the past decade, supported by diverse climatic zones that allow year-round production of tropical and temperate crops.

Key export products include dragon fruit, durian, mango, banana and lychee, with China, the United States, Japan and the European Union among the main markets.

Export turnover has risen strongly on the back of improved phytosanitary standards and expanded market access under trade agreements such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and the European Union–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

However, the sector continues to face constraints including fragmented farm structures, post-harvest losses, logistics bottlenecks and increasing competition from regional producers.
