Vietnam’s aluminium industry

Vietnam’s aluminium industry is anchored by large-scale bauxite mining and alumina refining projects in the Central Highlands, particularly in Dak Nong and Lam Dong provinces.

State-owned Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group has led development of the Tan Rai and Nhan Co alumina projects, supplying export markets and supporting downstream processing ambitions.

Downstream aluminium fabrication remains relatively limited, with most alumina exported rather than converted domestically into primary aluminium or high-value-added products.
