Vietnam’s textile/footwear industry
Vietnam’s textile and footwear industry is one of the country’s largest export earners, supported by a deep manufacturing base, competitive labour costs and strong integration into global supply chains.
Major brands source heavily from Vietnam, with production concentrated in key hubs such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong and the Red River Delta.
The sector benefits from free trade agreements that reduce tariffs in major markets including the US, EU and Japan, helping sustain demand for garments, sportswear and footwear.
Challenges remain in upgrading technology, improving value-added processes and meeting sustainability standards, but continued investment is strengthening long-term competitiveness.
