ToggleIn October, Vietnam exported US$470 billion worth of goods to Indonesia, up 7.2 percent over September, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
So far this year, Vietnam has exported US$4,742 million worth of goods to Indonesia.
Vietnam’s biggest export to Indonesia in value terms was other means of transportation, and parts, with US$65.93 worth shipped. This was up 77.8 percent over September. It brings the total exported so far this year to US$616.87 million.
This was followed by other products, valued at US$54.04 million, down 16 percent from September. Year-to-date these exports reached US$605.11 million.
Textiles and garments were also popular with exports to Indonesia, totalling US$42.68 million, falling 7.95 percent over September. Cumulative shipments now stand at US$416.66 million.
Textile, leather and footwear materials also featured prominently account for US$40.92 million worth of exports to Indonesia, an increase of 0.12 percent versus September. Total exports so far this year are US$349.75 million.
Exports of machine, equipment, tools and instruments to Indonesia round out the top five, with US$31.87 million shipped.

Vietnam trade with Indonesia
In October, Vietnam imported goods worth US$961.26 million from Indonesia and exported US$470.07 million, bringing total trade to US$1.43 billion and resulting in a trade deficit of US$491.19 million.
Year to date, two-way trade between Vietnam and Indonesia has reached US$14.12 billion, with Vietnam importing US$9.38 billion and exporting US$4.74 billion worth of goods.

Vietnam-Indonesia trade relations
Vietnam and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1955 and upgraded ties to a Strategic Partnership in 2013. Both are key ASEAN economies with rapidly growing bilateral trade driven by manufacturing, agriculture, and energy cooperation.
Indonesia is one of Vietnam’s top regional trading partners, supplying coal, automotive parts, and palm oil, while importing rice, electronics, and garments from Vietnam.
The countries also cooperate under the ASEAN Economic Community framework.
