Resolution 98 could see sports complex in Ho Chi Minh City finished after 30 years

Resolution 98, which was passed by Vietnam’s National Assembly in June and gives HCMC greater power over the collection and disbursement of taxes, may be a game changer with respect to the Rach Chiec National Sports Complex in HCMC, which was started in 1994, but is still unfinished, Tuoi Tre is reporting. The article quotes Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Nam Nhan as saying that city leaders are very interested in promoting sports and culture projects. He also suggests that the aforementioned resolution may be key to getting the project finally completed.

More international sporting events and performances from international pop-stars in Vietnam at major sprint arenas is drawing more and more attention to the state of said facilities which is not great. That said, there seems to be broad support to bring these facilities up to scratch and Vietnam may see some movement, in this respect, in the not too distant future.
