Vietnam-Italy trade relations

Trade between Vietnam and Italy has expanded steadily since Vietnam’s Doi Moi reforms, with Italy becoming one of Vietnam’s key European Union partners.

Bilateral ties strengthened further when both sides signed cooperation agreements covering industrial development, investment promotion, and capacity building across manufacturing and technology sectors.

Economic relations deepened after the EU Vietnam Free Trade Agreement came into effect, reducing tariffs and opening market access for goods such as machinery, textiles, footwear, and agricultural products.

Italy also supports Vietnam through development cooperation programmes focused on energy, culture, and education.

Both countries continue to explore opportunities to expand trade and investment under broader EU frameworks.
