Vietnam pharmaceutical products news

Pharmacy profits

Vietnam’s pharmaceutical sector continues to post strong profits, but broader policy and structural factors pose challenges to sustaining momentum, Tuoi Tre was reporting late last month.

Price adjustments, new tax rules, and the rollout of the two-tier local government model have created temporary slowdowns in hospital and retail drug demand.

Rising logistics and compliance costs, along with regulatory uncertainty in drug pricing and licensing, remain key constraints even as domestic healthcare demand and pharmacy networks expand steadily, the publication said.

Vietnam’s pharmaceutical products industry is expanding on the back of rising healthcare demand and a growing middle class.

Local manufacturers focus on generics, while multinational firms dominate patented and high-value medicines.

Regulatory reforms are improving market access, though approval timelines and pricing rules remain constraints.
