Vietnam’s wood manufacturing industry

Vietnam’s wood manufacturing industry is one of the country’s most established export sectors, supplying furniture, plywood, and interior materials to markets such as the United States, Japan, and the European Union.

It benefits from a domestic supply of raw materials, supported by large plantation areas of acacia, eucalyptus, and rubberwood, as well as foreign-invested factories concentrated in provinces like Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Bac Ninh.

However, it faces challenges from tightening environmental and origin-tracing regulations under the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and the US Lacey Act, which require stricter verification of timber sources and production processes.
