Vietnam’s fabrics industry

Vietnam’s fabrics industry underpins the country’s broader textile and garment sector, supplying woven and knitted materials for domestic manufacturers and export markets.

Production ranges from basic cotton and polyester blends to higher value functional and performance fabrics, though the industry still relies heavily on imported raw materials.

Investment has increased in dyeing, finishing and technical textiles to improve localisation rates and meet rules of origin requirements under free trade agreements.

The sector faces environmental compliance pressures and rising input costs, while aiming to move up the value chain and reduce dependence on upstream imports.
